
Prof Dr Mohamed Salih (Emeritus)
Prof Mohamed Salih is a Professor of Politics of Development at the International Institute of Social Studies, The
Hague and at the Department of Political Science, University of Leiden both in the Netherlands. He has undertaken
academic and policy research in Africa, Middle East and in the English-speaking Caribbean. His Major research,
publications and policy advice interests include politics of development, human security, sustainable development,
theories and applications of governance, peace conflict studies and assessment of democracy and economic
development interfaces.
Prof Mohamed has been honored globally for his works such as his contribution to the Inter-Governmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) which won Nobel Prize for peace in 2007, shared with ex-Vice President Al Gore of the USA
amongst many other honors in the course of his contribution to scholarly and Academic realms
He has written and co-authored dozens of books and journals that include one of his latest co-authored with Wil
Hout, “A Political Economy of the Development of Asymmetrical Regionalism in Africa”, Edward Elgar, Cheltenham.
He continues to produce High-Profile Reports for the United Nations on matters of politics of development and
undertaking evaluations and policy advice to various governments, UN, international bodies and regional
organisations especially in Africa

Prof Mohamed Salih is the Patron of the Institute
